SafeLinks – Categories

Below are many of the same links that you will find on the Alphabetical page, but organized in Categories instead. If you are not sure what product you are looking for but remember what kind of tool or resource it is – you can browse through the links by Category here. All of the products and services we link to are tools we use ourselves and have tested to ensure they are safe and virus free. If you find a link that does not work, or if you have suggestions for content please let us know right away by using the contact form on our Contact or Support page.

***It is important to remember that many free tools have paid versions available and would of course prefer that you pay for their premium features. However, the free tools we recommend here are more than adequate. The trade-off is usually that a daily or weekly message will pop up asking you to upgrade, or ads will appear somewhere in the tool. In almost all cases the free versions are only legal for use at home, and not in a business. Installing a free home version in a business can result in fines or other problems.

If there are any tools listed here that you are not sure how to use, or would like some instructions on how to install and configure any of them please visit our Free Booklets page, or sign up for a Premium Membership for access to our Premium Library of How-To’s and D.I.Y Booklets. We cover topics from basic maintenance to selecting backups, and even why we recommend one tool over another in certain situations.

All of our content is free of advertisements or misleading Download buttons which attempt to install unwanted applications on your computer. We are membership driven so we can provide you with a safe, and hopefully easy to use environment where you can find the information and download links you need.

Always remember to choose the Custom installation option when it’s available, then un-check or de-select any extra products that are included with the tool you want to install. Many vendors try to make extra money this way, for example Adobe Reader will also install Google Chrome or McAfee’s virus removal tool. You can almost always omit these by simply unchecking a box, so don’t be afraid to do so. For more information please visit our Free Library and download the booklet titled How to Install Updates and Freebies without Unwanted Hitchikers.
